Endocrinology Department

    The Department of Endocrinology is the key specialty of endocrinology in Shandong Province, as the master's degree of clinical medicine of Qingdao University Medical College and Taishan Medical College undertakes the teaching tasks of Taishan Medical College and Liaocheng University Medical College. It has been appraised as the advanced ward of National Quality Nursing Service Demonstration Project, the advanced collective of "Two Good and One Satisfaction" in Shandong Province, the "Shandong Nursing Service Demonstration Ward" and the "Shandong Medical Quality Demonstration Ward. There are 42 beds open and 5 sub-specialty clinics, including endocrine clinic, diabetes clinic, short clinic, obesity clinic and osteoporosis clinic. Zhang Guangzhen, the head of the Department of Endocrinology and director of the department, is the deputy director of the Diabetes Society of Shandong Province. There are 37 medical staff, including 17 physicians and 20 nurses, including 3 chief physicians, 4 deputy chief physicians and 3 master supervisors. There are 2 doctors, 13 masters, 1 chief nurse, 1 deputy chief nurse and 9 chief nurses.


    The Department of Endocrinology always puts the improvement of clinical professional level in the first place, the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its complications are in the forefront of the province, and the "three-C therapy" carefully controls sugar to provide individualized and precise treatment for diabetic patients; the treatment of diabetic foot carries out multi-disciplinary combined model (MDT), establishes the diabetic foot treatment group of Liaocheng People's Hospital, and successively carries out endovascular treatment of lower extremities. More than 1100 cases of diabetic foot patients have been cured in the past 10 years, which has become the treatment center of diabetic foot in Western Shandong.


    The department pays attention to the progress of teaching and scientific research as well as medical work. At present, the department personnel structure tends to be reasonable and the personnel level is gradually improved, with 53.3% of senior titles and 26.7% of doctoral degrees. At the same time pay attention to the training of resident doctors, strengthen professional learning and three basic training, so as to improve the quality of personnel at different levels. The training of postgraduates has been strengthened day by day. While ensuring the smooth completion of the training tasks, the quality of postgraduates has been strengthened. Their specialized knowledge has been improved through specialized outpatient service and monthly regular meeting of postgraduates. The number of scientific research papers keeps growing. In the past 3 years, we have completed 5 scientific research projects, including 1 project approved by Shandong Natural Science Foundation, 2 projects approved by Provincial Health Department, 2 municipal scientific research projects, 3 municipal projects to be concluded, 23 papers, 10 SCI papers and 13 Chinese core journals.


    The endocrine laboratory is equipped with advanced magnetic separation enzyme immunoassay instrument and chemiluminescence instrument to carry out quantitative and qualitative determination of various endocrine hormones such as insulin, C-peptide, cortisol, ICA, GAD, TRAb, aldosterone, renin, m-hydroxyphenyladrenaline, IGF-1, IGF-BP3, CTX, PICP and so on. In addition, it is equipped with the first Swedish production of PF5001 four-module laser Doppler, Bole D10 glycosylated hemoglobin analyzer, diabetic computer therapy instrument, diabetic foot diagnostic box, ultrasound debrider, non-mydriatic fundus imaging, insulin pump, dynamic blood sugar monitor and other advanced equipment.


    The Department of Endocrinology has carried out long-term activities such as health class, health express and health transmission, actively carried out diabetes education and free clinic activities, improved people's awareness of self-health care and self-health care ability of diabetic patients, established a special service brand "Love in it, sweet secretion for a lifetime", held regular micro-lectures with patients, and taught 12,000 persons annually.
